How to Download a TikTok Video

Copy the link to any public TikTok video, paste it into the field above, and press download. We fetch the video and hand it back as a file you can save, with the TikTok watermark removed. There's nothing to install and nothing to log into, and we never ask for a TikTok password at any point.

The steps are the same whether you're on a phone or a computer:

1. Open the video in the TikTok app or on tiktok.com and tap Share.
2. Copy the link. It might read tiktok.com/@username/video/..., or it might be a short vt.tiktok.com or vm.tiktok.com link. Either works here.
3. Paste the link into the field above and press download.
4. Save the video that comes back. The watermark is already gone.

If the video is public, that's the whole process, start to finish.

Why the Watermark Gets in the Way

TikTok stamps every video it exports with its own logo and the poster's username, which makes sense from TikTok's side: it points anyone who sees the clip elsewhere back to the app. It's less useful once you're the one holding the file. Repost a watermarked clip to Instagram or YouTube and you're advertising a different platform inside the very post you're using to grow this one. Try to re-edit a watermarked video and that logo sits in the corner of every frame, dragged along through every cut you make.

We remove it before the file reaches you, so what you get is the video itself, not TikTok's branding riding along on top of it.

Short Links from vt.tiktok.com and vm.tiktok.com

Share a video from inside the TikTok app and you often don't get the long tiktok.com/@username/video/1234567890123456789 address. You get a short one instead, starting with vt.tiktok.com or vm.tiktok.com. Both are TikTok's own link shorteners, not a workaround or a third-party redirect, and both point at the same video the long link would.

You can paste either kind into the field above. We follow the short link through to the actual video before we fetch anything, so there's no need to open it first, expand it in a browser, or track down the longer version yourself.

The Extra Text at the End of a Copied Link

Tap Share, then Copy Link, inside the TikTok app, and what lands on your clipboard is rarely just the link. TikTok appends a string of characters after a question mark, usually something like ?_r=1&_t=, which tells TikTok which button you tapped and roughly where that link is headed next. It has nothing to do with the video itself.

We ignore that part of the link when we look the video up, so a link copied straight from the app works exactly as well as one you've trimmed by hand. If you're pasting the same link somewhere else and would rather leave that tracking text out, you can delete everything from the question mark onward yourself. Either way, the video behind the link is identical.

Saving Your Own Video When the Draft Is Gone

Drafts live on one phone. Reinstall the app, switch devices, or let TikTok clear its cache, and a draft that was never posted is simply gone, with no copy anywhere else to recover it.

A video you actually posted is a different story. Once it's public, it's sitting on TikTok's servers, not just your phone, so losing the local draft doesn't touch it. Paste the link to your own video and we'll hand you back the file, watermark removed, so you end up with a copy that doesn't depend on the app, your phone, or TikTok staying online to hold onto it for you.

What Happens to the Sound

The sound isn't a separate download here, it's part of the video file. Whatever played when you watched the clip on TikTok, a voiceover, a trending audio clip, a song laid under it, comes through in the file exactly as it sounded on the app, because it's built into the same file as the picture.

We don't split the audio out on its own. If what you actually want is just the sound, stripped out to reuse somewhere else, you'd need to pull that out of the video yourself afterward. What we give you is the full video, sound included, watermark excluded.

Private Accounts Don't Work Here, on Purpose

If an account is set to private, only approved followers can see its videos, and that's TikTok enforcing exactly what the account owner asked for. We only reach what TikTok shows to anyone holding the link, so a private account's videos sit outside what we're able to fetch, no matter how the link reached you or who sent it.

That's not a limitation we're trying to work around. Someone chose to keep their account private, and that choice should hold regardless of who's asking or what tool they're using. If you paste a link from a private account, expect it to fail, because it's supposed to.

Once a Video Is Deleted, It's Gone

When someone takes down a video they posted, whether that's a full delete or just switching an old post back to private, the video stops existing anywhere we're able to reach. We don't keep copies of videos we've fetched before, so there's no backup sitting on our end to hand over once the original disappears from TikTok.

If there's a video you care about keeping, someone else's or your own, the time to save it is while it's still live. Once it's taken down, it's taken down for good, and that includes for us: no downloader, ours included, can hand you back what its owner has already removed.

What We Don't Do, and What's on You

We don't host anyone's videos. Every file we return is fetched the moment you paste a link and press download, and we don't keep a copy of it afterward on our end. What happens to that file next, whether you repost it, edit it, or just keep it for yourself, is a decision you're making, not us.

That decision carries responsibility with it. Whoever downloads a video is the one accountable for what they do with someone else's work, including whether reposting it respects the person who made it in the first place. We built this to make the download itself easy, not to make that judgment call for you.
